Alienware makes one heck of a gaming computer.
basically you want a computer that has a large amount of memory
separate video and sound cards with large amount of memory
a fast chip, amd is my preference, but intel is ok.
if you go with amd a 3200+ minimum, anything 64 bit will work, and intel make sure that it's a hyperthreading chip and you will be fine. getting the 3ghz celeron is NOT okay, the 3ghz celeron is equal to the 386 that I have in my basement (not hooked up, just never thrown out). well, maybe not equal, the 386 may be faster then the celeron.
People that build here can give you the actual model #'s of the items to get, and then just borrow a friends windows disk. I use windows 2000 professional on half of my computers, and XP pro on the others. they both have their ups and downs, Using NT on one of mine and it sucks, but it's only storage now.
I will post a pic of my desk tomorrow, nothing special tho.

On a side note is anybody looking to buy a floppy drive/DVD drive in full working order? Grey casing. Both 4 years old, both work fine, you can have them both for £10 exc p+p.
also z310 you can have my old case if you want, as long as you pay for p+p it's free.

Don't waste your money on an Alienware computer. Everyone thinks they're the best, but that's just an ignorant opinion. They're just like customizing your own computer except that you're not building it and the prices are jacked up really high. You can make your own computer that's just as good as one of the Alienware computers for much less.
DJM, nice selection, but I'd get a motherboard that's nForce 4 if I were you.

NForce4 uses PCI-Express.
I have an AGP video card and I aint planning on changing that any time soon.
So I'll have to stick with nForce3
