Last time I checked, it was still occasionally played, and heavily played up until we cancelled it in favor of RA:APB. And the past doesn't change, so checking again won't alter that...

That is what we did... First the mod had low detailed and innacurate weapons/vehicle, then I started redoing them, and creating new ones, now earlier ones are being redone and the more detailed ones are just being upgraded. And yet we've managed to actually release the mod, with many updates in a timely fashion, and the team only consisted of just one modeler, one texture artist, two riggers/programmers/etc., and one mapper.
And lets compare, Renegade Alert, which was played quite a bit for the majority of when it was supported (much more then a few months), and is still played some... Versus Reborn, which isn't really played at all, and was played very little when it was released due to being really buggy, and just bad.

Just search for "RenAlert Ingame anything", you really should of put some thought into how you were to magically rig your models in battlefield 2.

I'm sure you find tons, since there were 2-5 ingame shots of just about every update ever made for RenAlert. Hell, you could even take it to the next step by downloading it and just playing it for yourself.

I was told that those were Max Renders, and nothing has been out ingame yet. But my source could be mistaken.

You are confused with the Renegade version of Ren Alert en Ren Alert for BF2. The Renegade version is actually released as an beta and has thousands of screenshots.
Size doesn't matter.

It's unfair to expect a playable release on two different engines from us when the second engine has only been purchaseable for only around a month; and foolish to tolerate a nearly unplayable 'release' from another team working on the older engine for such a painfully long time, well after we abandoned that older engine.

one thing I don't get is why the RA team don't try to earn money from their work. I spoke to a friend of the man who made most of the buildings and background scenery in GTA:vice city, which aren't all that good, average at best, and was told the guy earned an 80,000 bonus on top of millions for doing that and leading a team of programmers.
some of those buildings in renalert, like the soviet power plant, are good enough to be included in big multimillion dollar games and are way better than the quality of those buildings in vice city, which earned the modeller so much cash. Did you guys do a course at college or something? i'm doing something like that this august...

Im currently enrolled in ITT Tech and there are 4 years for the course of stufy im on. First 2 years get you an associates in multimedia, and the 2 after that get you a bachelors in video game design. Average salaray for a video game designer is 49,000 a year.
