If you read the story more closely, you'll notice that the Japanese author of the story wrote the story from a standpoint that the entire issue was taboo... at one point he mentioned that it didn't seem possible, or something like that.
And the page which the story is being hosted on is http://mdn.mainichi-msn.co.jp/ -- a website for Japanese national news written in English and hosted by MSN. There are no joke articles on their webpages. But if you want to read other interesting stories about Japanese perversion (and what it's like to live in a society where prostitution is legal and thriving), then browse through the "WaiWai" section (I researched the meaning of "WaiWai" and found it means "a gathering of people" so the "WaiWai" section is their section on people and social issues). There's a lot of surprising articles there.

This seems to have been embellished somewhat. I read some of the articles C4miner put up... And I could help but think that someone has read some small news story and added a whole lot too it. It's not hard to find any such stories in any country, I think every one knows about a news paper in their area that specialises in stories like these.
Its not hard to come up with a few fake names and add some quotes that no one will ever bother checking. Then all you have to do is add a situation, description, resolution and that's it. Put all that on top af a small story about the taboos of the exam cram culture of japan and you have your self an article.
All of the ones I read were written in the same way, and were not very believable.
A good read though.

Actually these are things that American's do, we just don't have anybody with the balls to write about it.
EDIT: Some of the detail this writer goes into is practically "Pornish" for lack of a better word... might as well be a sex story.

Sure we do; they just usually start out their articles by saying "32-year-old redneck mother Sarah Hillbilly was arrested on child molestation charges after sucking her own son's cock" instead of "It was just another normal day in Tokyo when Yakashibo Homikiri sucked her 15-year-old son's dick so he'd study for his tests."
Is child molestation usually accepted by Japanese society? It sure as hell isn't in American society (except when it's Michael Jackson who's being accused; then you're a racist if you say he's guilty).
