What are those things in that HL2 screenshot? They look a lot like the old tleilaxu leeches from Emperor.

Considering that both are clearly great games with very large fanbases, its pointless to argue about "which is better", because opinions will obviously differ. Better to talk about which one you personally prefer, and why, and leave it at that.

Even though im going to get them both I would pick Halo 2 over Hl2 if i had to pick one...Halo 1 is a very fun game and from watching the videos of Halo 2 it looks like its gonna be ALOT better then halo 1.

HL2 all the way. And yes, the Halo 2 picture does look a bit cooler, though in my case it has nothign to do with graphics. It's just taken from a neat frog-view angle which makes it look oh-so majestic and cool.

I'd have to go with Halo 2 because I love Halo. I've never played Half Life but from those two screenshots I'd have to say Half Life looks better. Halo 2 is probably going to have a better AI for enemies.

Sn1per XL | It looks really good for a console game...i'm sure if it was on PC it would look alot better.
|
If it was built especially for the PC, it would look very good. But if they just plan to convert the Xbox version over to PC, then it isn't going to look that much better than the Xbox version.

EXdeath7 | Halo 2 rocks if you watched the E3 Demostration , you can see theer is certain vehicle damage. Like on the warthog you can shoot off the hub caps or blow off the headlights. With the ghost you can shoot off the engines and it cant move Also the levels are like this also , certain things can be blow then bits adding that red faction feel to it

Honestly, that should have been a feature in the first game. The vehicles had good physics but it was stupid how they were invulnerable. Also, Halo 1 was not that good in my opinion. The ridiculous overuse of level geometry was really a pain in the ass, a good chunk of the single player looked like it was made in the Timesplitters 2 level editor (ie. they re-used exact same rooms like 50 times). The only fun parts of the game was the vehicles and the very last level, just cause it was cool. Halo 1 doesn't hold a candle to Half-Life 1, the only reason it's so hyped is because it's the only AAA exclusive X-BOX has (or had, now it's on PC too). If the game had gotten a simultaneous release on PC or the other consoles no one would have cared that much about it.
Now, judging from the series first games I have no reason to believe that Halo 2 can touch Half-Life 2. We know that HL2 has better graphics, physics, and AI for certain (judging from what both companies have released). In addition to this HL2 will obviously have a much better multiplayer and modding community, because the X-BOX (and all consoles for that matter) is crusted over horse shit in this area. Finally, I believe that HL2 will be much more fun than Halo 2.

I think that the two are about neck-and-neck. HL2 has its advantages (better graphics and physics) while Halo 2 retains Halo's fine gameplay balance and AI system (too bad you can't have bots in multiplay). I have Halo 2 and really want HL2 as well (idk if my comp would like it though).

I dont know about other physics, but Halo 2 has the Unreal Death Physics engine, and all the corpses slide all neatly and everything. They dont explode, but its still fun to kill someone, and watch their corpse slide down a set of stairs.
I choose Halo 2 over Half-Life 2, since ive seen both games, and although Halo 2 didnt quite match Half Life 2s graphics, it easily made up for it. With the new/remodeled weapons that Halo 2 threw in, aswell as being able to play as an Elite, i personally think that Halo 2 beat Half-Life 2.
In Halo 2, almost anything and everything can be destroyed, or atleast tipped over. I should know about the last one, i grenaded a hall of blocks and they all tipped over. That was a fun level.
Most things that a destroyed actually explode, causing splash damage that can kill others. I admit that 90% of all Halo 2 Xbox Live players that have the headset, are going to act like 2 year olds whenever they die. Ive heard a few adults on there, who act the same way. Ive heard about three people in total that havent whined and complained about being killed.
My judgment: Halo 2 - Half-Life 2
Halo 2 excells in alot of areas, but doesnt live up to CERTAIN expectations.
Half-Life 2 excels in most areas, but doesnt live up to my tastes, or from the things ive heard of Half-Life 1.
Final Judgment: Halo 2 is slightly superior, but Half-Life 2 does have its strong points.
