Blazer's connection is also my connection. Very Happy

I have tested up to 3200 kb/sec downstream, and 270-ish upstream. Cox Cable.

BellSouth DSL

Get around 1200/220. 50 bucks a month.

It's really crappy because they built out their own backbone in the southeast recently. Before, I got a pretty straight shot to the UUNet backbone, but now it appears as though BS has stopped using UUNet altogether. Its made my pings skyrocket about 50-100 depending on which coast the server is on.

Tried to get Cyberconic DSL, they offer 1500/768 for 50 bucks a month, but don't offer it in SC.

signatures suck

56k and 'jetstream' which is really adsl 7mb downstream about 512kb upstream (so they say) so it costs about $700+ per month here for 5gb of it....

Telecom (the national telephone provideder) is gay, since they virtually are the only ones supplying nation-wide high-speed internet

? Aussie ? If so, ditch tel$cum and give OzForces a try. If not just ignore me Smile

** They don't use Tel$cum's wholesale crap so no bullshit limits. Bit expensive tho (for speed anyways) **

For what it's worth, I have a cable modem connection. The speed tester I ran said it's running at 40000 bps (download, upload, who knows). All I know is that it will be some time before I'm the one causing the lag. Smile

Download Speed?
Upload Speed?
Cable/DSL/Dial-up/Other?

Use http://www.dslreports.com/stest

I'm currently on cable but next week I have to switch over to DSL (cable's boosting their price to $58/month from $43/month, DSL is $35/month), and I'm afraid of getting much lower speeds (like, 384 kbps download speed)...

Download speed: 1788 kbps
Upload speed: 216 kbps

If you are one of the people with AT&T or Comcast, see if you can get Earthlink cable. Earthlink is well rated at dslreports and is supposed to have 2.0MBS download speeds! Anyway, before you switch, see if other cable isps are available in your area first. Just a suggestion. Very Happy

Your download speed : 178318 bps, or 178 kbps.
A 21.7 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 189708 bps, or 189 kbps.

lol, my works upload speed is faster than the download speed. hmm, i wonder how much more the speed would inrease if i cut everyone else off the network. there is about 20 of us using this connection at the same time, i might move myself over onto the other t3 connection later today.. lol only 2 people use that one Smile

Oops, Homie...thanks for the observation. I ran another test via an Italian website, and my download speed came in at roughly 4.5 times the speed of a 33.6k modem. It's not flying, but it ought to be adequate.

This is going to get old real quick... so maybe you might want to wrap it up and try something like real conversation or don't bother wasting your time posting, because we don't want to see every thread you come in with a response something like this. Then again, this behavior would definately make it easier to get you banned... so keep it up... let's see how it goes.

Take a look at this!

Your download speed : 1731030 bps, or 1731 kbps.
A 211.3 KB/sec transfer rate.
Your upload speed : 227001 bps, or 227 kbps.
Seems like broadband .. above the 1mbit barrier!

Question, why can't this connection hold a 6 player server. I have this:
P4 1.7GHZ
512MB RDRAM
Geforce 4 MX 440

and a six player server doesn't work. Why not?
