Fact is that Internet Explorer stays the n° 1 browser for the simple fact that nor Opera, nor Firefox, nor any other can handle about all pages online, as you stated correctly. Use div's and BAAAAAAAM your site is Iexplorer-only (for correct view).
I can (not really but if I had teh knowledge) easely make faster browsers, just strip them from most functionnality and they will be fast... DUH
So the question is not which is the best: ff or opera, it it which looses the less functionnality while gaining speed. And that's most probably FF.

Did you think that one up all by yourself?
Also, the very site that you linked to prove that Opera is faster, shows Firefox as being faster in everything but a Javascript benchmark.
All the extra "abilities" that Opera has that you need plugins to use with Firefox are, frankly, pointless. Looking at his list, I can't see a single one that would be of any use to me at all.
So, aside from your opinion, why is Opera better than Firefox?

|
Not all the extensions firefox has are in opera (for example: Adblock, GooglePreview, Linky, and the Web Developer toolbar). Also I only want extensions I use so Opera prolly has crap I don't even want to have.
Opera also got an annoying banner.

It could be me, but if I look at the browser comparison scheme, Firefox seems faster.
Startup time is 1 second faster, not that one second really is interesting, and CPU Time to load 20 pages is faster. I can't really see on what point it should be faster. It is better with javascipt tough.
Size doesn't matter.

Aircraftkiller wrote on Sat, 18 June 2005 02:17 | No, you don't have to. Glyde is not the most reliable or intelligent person in here (More to the point he's dumb as hell) so he's doing that thing where he writes without backing up his posts with any facts.
So lets see here...
1. Opera is not software you have to pay for. It is completely free, but to remove the small advertisement banner (No bigger than 140x35 or so) requires you to purchase it. There is no functionality difference between the free and paid versions other than the advertisement banner (which is completely customizable to what you want to see), so it doesn't matter if you buy it or not.
2. Again, you shouldn't have to download "extensions" to get the features of a program like Opera. What Opera has should be standard on all browsers including Internet Explorer.
3. All non-Internet Explorer browsers have trouble displaying certain pages. It's not just an Opera issue.
|
Do you have your microphone enabled, because I get the feeling that the only thing that likes to listen to you is Opera.
Advertisments suck. It doesn't matter if you don't have to pay to keep them on. While there's a free version of Opera, why use that when you can get Firefox, which has more extensions than anyone will ever need?
No. Seriously. No.

After using firefox for 1 year, I have yet to find a website that doesn't load.
IE has serious security issues because of the simple fact that it is the most popular browser therefore more people try to find exploits.

Uhh... Generally when something requires more memory, it's not going to allow your computer to operate as fast as it should.
|
X Wrong answer, ditchwitch.
Generally, when something requires more memory, it means it's a larger program, that's about it.
About the only time it would cause any type of performance issue is if you had 1MB of available memory left and the extra two FireFox used would throw you out to the page file.. If that were the case, FF is the least of your problems.
You're still a retard, generally speaking of course.

Advertisements are what keeps the Internet running free for the most part. Without advertisements, everything would be a paid service and you'd be unable to see much of anything unless you shelled out $5+ per website just to view its content, in addition to your ISP rates.
Extensions do not a browser make. Opera already has what Firefuck needed to begin with. It loads websites faster, and doesn't have memory problems like Firefuck does... The whole "minimize it and it unloads all memory, just to take a while to reload again" problem.

We get enough advertisments on the Internet. We don't need them in our browsers.
No. Seriously. No.
