So...
Don't use a WYSIWYG? If it doesn't work well at all cross-browser, it's not the browsers fault, it's obviously your fault. It is up to the HTML coder to make sure it works in all browsers PROPERLY, even if it might have a few cosmetic defects.
No. Seriously. No.

GeTSm0keD | on the real tho glyde.. whats the deal with opera not readin my CSS for fonts..
a:hover { color: #f00; text-decoration: none }
.class { color: #666; font-size: 12pt; font-family: Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif }
.pagenum { color: #666; font-size: 16pt; font-weight: 900 }
a:link { color: #666 }
.class1 { color: black; font-size: 10pt }
|
The color codes are supposed to be 6 letters/numbers (RRGGBB), "#666666" not "#666".

Okay, bump?
Anyways, the RenAlert site doens't load properly in the newest Opera, which I downloaded to test my own site on.
Firefox it's screwed up too.
Internet Exploder, perfect.
You should fix that HTML on the buttons. In Firefox they have borders, and in Opera the tables are messed.
No. Seriously. No.

WYSIWYG > Notepad for the simple fact that, Time is Money. When you have no job and live in a basement you can spend all your awake time plodding away in Notepad lining things up and making your website. If you, maybe have a deadline, and perhaps have other things to do, a wife, kids, a boss who didn't just hire you to play around in singleplayer IRC all day.
Making a website in Notepad takes some HTML knowledge. WYSIWYG however isn't a walk in the park either. Sure anyone can do it, but it won't look good. It takes just as much skill to make a professional and streamlined website in a WYSIWYG editor as it is to do it in Notepad. Wether making a table means dragging that little tool at the top to say, 4x4, or typing <table><tr><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td></tr><tr><td></td><td></td><td></td><td></td></tr></table>.
If the table doesn't look good it doesn't look good, in Notepad or WYSIWYG. You have to have the knowhow and the feel for design to make sure the website is astetically pleasing and serves its purpose.

| I'm not sure what cold fusion is, not being a web developer, but I can tell you that I dislike most sites that make even a small bit of use of Flash ... it requires the use of a plugin, and I don't particularly like installing plugins. I especially don't like company websites that are completely flash-based. It's quite unprofessional in my opinion.
I guess you could say I hate Flash in general.

yeah most sites don't have the handicapped in mind.
I use Firefox & have never had any problems. IE is slower on my comp & I have everything updated. I love the extensions that you can install into Firefox. I especially like the adblock feature. I used it to block all of those nasty Gamespy & other advertisements on PlanetCNC & other sites. & the popup blocker works pretty good as well.
With the right combo of regularly updated apps you can keep your system totally safe. I haven't had a single spyware or virus on my computer since January.

I use Firefox also because of it's features. I'm addicted to tabbed browsing, Adblock, the SomethingAwful Last Read extension, minimalistic interface, and so on. Extra security is a plus, but not really necessary for me.
