Ok I was installing a new sony DVD +/-RW drive into my computer... that all went well. Then I turned on my system fully expecting it to boot up just fine... "What the fuck!" I get a error something like Unreadable_Boot_Volume and this blows my fucking mind. My computer was running just fine 2 minutes ago with no problem at all. If anyone has seen this happen before and can help please tell me.

I had similar with my BenQ Lightscribe.

Check your jumpers, make sure its set to master or slave if you have another drive.

It may not be the os. Like obliv said, it's probebly just the jumpers. I have had the same problem.

If I was you, just unhook the power and IDE from the drive and try to boot up. If it boots you know the OS is fine and it's hardware. If it still does not boot - you may have a problem, maybe a pulled cable, maybe something got shocked.

Colonel

Check the jumpers and the boot order in your BIOS.

Check the jumpers. It's probably the jumpers because 3 people just said that it was the jumpers. I really don't know what they are but check them just to be sure. Hope that helped you out.
