I'm working on a little side project here. I'm trying to build a small wind generator. I want to do something frivalous like light a light at night when the wind blows or something. So far I'm having trouble finding good information on how to build a small generator. I know you need the coil and the magnets. There really isn't much else out there lol. I don't know how to set them up. Also I was wondering how I might be able to salvage little R/C car motors. I have like a thousand of those and they all have a little magnet inside and a coil but no matter what I try, I attach the two leads to a small LED, and spin the motor up as fast as I can by hand or with another motor and it doesn't generate any power. I was just wondering if anyone had any practical experience with this kind of thing or knows just a bit more than the normal Joe.

Rig up 800 humbuckers to one output wire, and get the turning wind thing vibrate a looooooong guitar string over them. That should about power a lightbulb.

Did you try spinning the motor the other way around as LEDs work only one way (+ on anode (usually connecting to the small thing in the LED), - on cathode (usually the bigger thing in the LED))?
