I haven't run defrag on mine in several months, don't even really remember how many exactly. I'm probably going to do it in the next couple days, it takes about 3-5 hours.

I don't really have any problems with it starting over (maybe once, but it zips right through to where it was), since it's done in safe mode.

You should all do it regularly.

If you havent done it for a very long time, then the first defrag may take a long time, but after that if you do it once a month or once every 2 weeks or so, then it will only take a few minutes.

Same. I suggest all of you use Diskeeper, it seriously is 500 times better than the regular one.

i back up my drive once or twice a month.. so i defrag before i back up

i normaly use the normal windows defrag..
but i've tried the defrag that norton system tools has..
and when i go and defrag with the windows defrag..
its totaly messed up.. frags every where..
it re-frags my drives..

but whats so good with diskeepper? before i go and d/l it to try.

i dunno if this is true..
but ive been told to defrag in safe mode.. does a better job?
it does take alot longer.. not sure if thats a good thing or not..

I just tried diskkeeper. It's fast, and deals with the larger files that the windows defragger will not touch.
I think I will stick with it.

I believe our old computer's 60GB HD hasn't been defragmented at all in the past two years Very Happy

I wanted to, but it needs 10% or so of disk space free, and I never had more than 1 GB free. Ah well, we've got a new computer now, so now I have the space to store things on. The old one'll get his defrag sometime Smile

Why can't it be defragged when it's full?
