Hold on, 1mb upload speed is lousy? I don't know about actually testing my speed but I know my download speed has never passed 98k/sec and the official line from NTL means I should have an upload speed of 70k/sec, yet I've not seen that go above 10...
Am I missing some minor detail or should you guys stop complaining? Or is a 600k broadband connection somewhat poo outside the UK?

Your connection is OK. But don't mind them, bitching about a 1mb upload rate is completely stupid. That's actually REALLY good, and it's the best you're gonna get right now from any regular ISP.

Yeah, I would also like to run a server but it would cause me to surf REALLY slow. Whenever I use my upload my surfing speed and gaming ping gets really messed up. That's because my upload gets used to the maximum.

Thats why I use netlimiter if i'm uploading something. You can cap the program to a certain number. Its great for it. I limit it to like 80kb/sec so I still have another 20 for other stuff.

I'm not complaining (my own upload speed is 256k) but don't you think 1 MB is low when your download speed is 20 MB?

To be honest I thought a download speed of 98k on a 600k line was pretty damn slow too...

You have to think server side too though. Not every server will dish out a full 600k for 1 user. If you use getright, use the multiple file parts option, it will greatly increase it.

Remember that a 600k line is a 600 kilobit line. That's not 600kb, it's in kilobits, which is why you're not downloading at 600k/sec.
