renegade is running without problems
after installing "RenGuard_Setup_1.03.exe"
i can´t play renegade anymore
everytime i get the error code : " Error: loader couldn´t initialize service"
i checked my system ..tried it with antivir / Spybot - Search & Destroy /jv16 PowerTools and 4 online sites for virus ..... Found: NOTHING

i need help ... please

The error message isn't here, but maybe some of the other solutions may be able to help...

Hey, Im having the same problem : Error : Loader Couldnt Initialize Service!

Tried alsorts (turning firewall off, Opening ports, Re-installing) ... Nothing seems to work :S

Hi,
What Windows Operating System are you running and what Service Pack is installed?

You say you have a Firewall, please state the software and its version.

Also, Please can you provide a screenshot of your error message.

Im running Win XP, Service pack 2 ... No firewalls are running (Disabled ... Norton personal fireall 2005) ... I have also enabled ports ect thru the program even when disabled

Also ... The game was working while i had the firewall on and off ... It just decided to say that error today with service packs and firewall on as usual

Also ... I have a home network ... And renguard seems to be working fine on them computers ... Now i have un-installed renguard and re-installed ... And it still brings up the same problem

As i said before nothing has changed on my computer since i last went online (with renguard working) ... So i dunno :S

I don't actually have Windows XP SP2, as I am aware of all of its bugs and compatability issues.
I run SP1.
But I understand on SP2 that Microsoft have their own firewall and a bunch of all other bollocks that comes with the Service Pack.
By any chance is there like a Red icon with a white X in the taskbar (next to the clock)?
I understand MS for creating the SP, as it fixes many issues, but creates alot more than its worth.

No i dont have anything like that ... I dont have anything running from sp2 (eg firewall or other programs) running ... I had service pack 2 already installed and was playing on renegade with renguard yesterday, and the day before, For the past 4 days or so ... this problem has just started today ... No changes to windows or firewall settings (I double checked before previous post)

Have you tried giving your PC a scan for spyware, adaware and viruses?
Maybe there is something infected making RG not accessing the net?

Yes i have restarted my computer (also in safe mode) ... Scanned with Ada-ware SE, Norton 2005, Mc Afee V 9, and various other things ... Dam this is error is starting to bug me lol

I know I shouldn't do this (as the RG don't like external mirrors to its files), but try copying these 2 files to your Renegade Directory. Maybe your game.exe has become corrupt?

Once you have downloaded it, I'll delete it.

It is something with your operating system which interferes with RenGuard's protection loader. Try running filemon on it.

To Fix it Got to (Start > Run > Regedit)


and Delete This Reg key

hi its me again

still i dont know whats wrong with renugaurd and this special problem

i could play renegade with renguard for some time now , but yesterday the error came back and i couldnt play on renguard 1 servers . without renguard i could play( tested it on those american server without rengaurd as a must have and game2.exe not the RG exe) and it worked fine.
today everything is fine again and renguard works fine.

some days ago when i was able of playing on renugard servers (like renegade community, this stutu server) evertime i started renguard my AntiVir ( http://www.free-av.com ) told me there is an virus in c:\windows\system32\svkp.sys !?!
i told my AV to deny access to it and i could play fine
after an update of my AV it doesnt tell me anything about it , so i think it was a bug or somthing with their updated vir-dat.
i also read about it on a Gothic2 forum , they cant run the installation of an expansion pack or something , they have the same prob/error "could not initialize service ... .
dont if these are really the same things , just thought i let u guys know about it

so far i dont know what i can do , but also i am able to play like im used to.

ill tell u again as far as i know something new
