Hey, I haven't before been looking into SP2 & Renegade in the past until now.
I lent my copy of Renegade to somebody at work, he runs Windows XP Pro SP2.
He installed the game without problems, but when he goes to launch the game, he is instantly greeted with the "Send Error Report" Window and closes Renegade.
He has tried, updating to 1.037, compatability mode, downloading the latest windows updates and still the same re-occuring error.

Any advice on a fix?

Or does SP2 just naff up Renegade completley?

Try thinking about other people than yourself. There are people like me who have zero problems with SP2, meaning SP2 doesn't "naff" off everything.

Me too, luckily 99.8% (approximation Razz) of everything important and irreplaceable via CD was and is on my 160GB HDD.

Workarounds:

Before closing Renegade, alt-tab and bring up the RenGuard window and click "quit". Both RenGuard and Renegade die.

Before leaving the server, press F8 and type "exit" or "quit" (I forget which)... it will terminate Renegade.

I will just tell him that a re-install could resolve things.

Andy.

P.S. Do you think Graphics drivers may need updating?

My renegade runs fine, I have had sp2 for a while now and Havant seen any problems. I did install mine off of a microsoft cd I ordered, but that cannot be any different then the download version.

Was it an old windows install you upgraded, or was it relatively new?

SP2 came...SP2 went. That's all I've got to say about SP2. Except that I was much happier after it went.

"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived of the use of them." - Thomas Paine

Remember, kids: illiteracy is cool. If you took the time to read this, you are clearly a loser who will never get laid. You've been warned.
