I don't know what the problem is at the moment, but people, for whatever reason get a firewall error when trying to connect to Renegade via RenGuard.
A temporary solution to this is for players to start Renegade via the Game2.exe that is located in your Renegade folder. This bypasses the Renguard program, and allows you to play normally.
Keep in mind, when you join this way you are not connected to the RenGuard network, and will not be able to join any protected server.

i simply uninstalled renguard, renegade and my firewall and reinstalled them
problem fixed i think my firewall was the problem but i just uninstalled all of them now back online with renguard. even when i just uninstalled renguard and renegade and removed them from my firewall it still said the game.exe has changed so i uninstalled everything and reinstalled them.
hope that might help anyone with the same problem.

i have been repeatily trying to get renguard to work.
i've followed the guid to install one topic below this one.
i have every file exsackly like it is in the screen shot and downloaded the patch and renguard from the links.
And even still renguard does not work i'v shut off all my fire walls i've made every west wood game and renguard an exception.
nothing works when i download renguard i save it to west wood folder in one ettemp and run it from there.
other ettempts i just run it and in every ettemp all i get is a window that opens up. It gives me three options.
i try modify says i can't
i try repair says it don't need to
why would i remove?
i click next says i can't
only thing i can do is press cancel.
i even tried waiting and left that window open for ever.
nothing works .

Um....do you need it to install to the Renegade/Data folder or just Rengade folder cause that might be one of the problems........If you don't need to anyways I did install some maps so, I'm reinstalling renegade right now and going to see if that works.

I try to install it to my C:\Westwood\Renegade floder, but it then says I need to install it to renegade and it would then say installtion incomplete and wouldn't be installed. The only time it will install all the way is if I install it to C:\Westwood\Renegade\Data.

Just recently it let me install renguard on C:\Westwood\Renegade, but I still get the same error problem.......I think it has to do with me getting rid of my older hard drive too have one big drive for everything......I lost lots of stuff when I got rid of it, but it said it was there but not there.....Is there any chance I can download and install the first version????? That one should work because it worked before on my computer.

You banned my mom from renguard. She would not even know how to bypass renguard, and anyways, we haven't even been home for the past week, so if some1 was on her account, they were hacking it. Please unban my mom, she will change her password. Her name is artsygal2.

The sad part about it, is that it is true, they banned her ip address even, and she wasn't home to even do anything with renegade. (both my mom and dad are addicted to renegade, that is why I am making a big deal. Now she just won't be quiet, and she keeps asking me to fix it, when I don't know how)

The RenGuard network is obviously suffering from some major collisions or stability problems.
The errors that people have been seeing recently are caused by the inability to connect to the RenGuard network (as some have already stated).
Granted there may be some faults in the code for the renguard client or server ... or maybe even a misconfigured firewall here and there. But generally speaking is a miscommunication with the host network.
When can we expect to see these errors stop? Simple disabling RenGuard, reinstalling the program with hopes that it will solve the problem, or giving users a message that basically says "its your firewall thats the problem" doesn't solve anything.
My input? I think the latest release is when I noticed a performance degredation. I have copies of all versions of the renguard client if anyone cares for a copy. I also have a list of checksums for various versions of game.exe and game2.exe if you'd like those as well. I just want to see this fixed quickly and appropriately.
