what's wrong with your current card? I have the same...there isn't a problem, at least in renegade, unless you are playing in a 16 vs 16 game with 1024 768 resolution and very high details. course', if it is a game like splinter cell you want to play I see the need, as mine played horrible.

By the way, you can grab an 9700 here in the UK for about 125 pounds. Dunno what that is in dollars, but the dollar is absolute rubbish. imports from the US are cheaper than buying things in retail stores in the UK.

The Saphire is a normal 9600 pro, and the other is a XT9600 pro.
A sort of faster core and stuff.

The 9550 is a good choice as it clocks to a 9700 no problem. (Apprantely)

You can get a good deal for that much.

Quick search on Newegg brought up some nice cards.

By the way - Keep your options open. Don't set your mind on just ATI. nVidia cards are well worth a look.

Before you buy, ask yourself if you really need 256MB of memory. Usually 128MB is plenty for most games. Also 128MB cards tend to have slightly better quality of memory.

If you can decide against a 256MB card, then you can afford a better GPU or Chipset.

i got a sapphire 9800se 128mb for £70 from http://www.ebuyer.com if thats any help....never had any probs with it, running 2 monitors from it.

Has 1 DVI and 1 D-Sub connection. Dunno if they still sell exactly the same one, got this a few months back, but you should be able to find similar.
