Are you on crack or what?

You know that 1000MB = 1GB right?

Cool.

512MB (comenly known as "half a gig of ram")

512+512=1024MB

1024MB - 1000MB = 24MB

Soooooooo 1.000GB + 24MB = 1024MB or 1.024GB (One gig + 24MB)

You guys are the stupidest fuckin pieces of white trash that I have seen. You have crappy computers, don't know what computers you have. All you know is that you are 1337 and that your computer is kick ass. STFU and go think about what computer hardware to ask your mommy for Christmas.

And btw icedog90, YES you are a n00b for not knowing what internal sound card you have.

DJM

I got:

2.6Ghz
512Mb RAM
64Mb GeForce 4

I would liek to upgrade my RAM to 1024. Do you think it's worth upgrading my gfx card too? I don't know too much bout these kinda things.

Yeah listen to icedog90 if you want some n00b that likely doesn't know any more than you to give you a recommendation.

If you want a recommendation we first need to know the exact model number of your card. The manufactures name would be helpful as well, so that we know the exact timings of the vide card. As every manufacture changes them up just a little.

Your rig doesn't look that bad. It might not be an x800xt, but then again there is no need for that, since the rest of your system isn't up to par.

So get back to us and I will give you my 5 cents.

BTW I find it funny that icedog90 has made a determination regarding your vide card without even knowing exactly what you have. For christ sakes, there's at least 6 different variations in the Geforce 4 line.

Sorry, I think you're on crack.

You barely even read my post, I said it was impossible to tell what my sound card is, GET THAT? I SAID IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHAT MY SOUND CARD IS.

I SAID IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHAT MY SOUND CARD IS.

I SAID IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHAT MY SOUND CARD IS.

I SAID IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL WHAT MY SOUND CARD IS.

Lay off the crack, please.

Also, search Google, because it is true that:

1024MB = 1GB.

1024MB = 1GB.

1024MB = 1GB.

1024MB = 1GB.

Just like how:

1024KB = 1MB.

1024KB = 1MB.

1024KB = 1MB.

Thank you, and good bye.

All Geforce 4 64mb cards today are now crappy.

hmm. Truly renegade runs like a dream on my computer. But my neighbor does hive the same wireless internet that we do, ACTIONTEC so my "INTERNET" is the problem. Dell does not offer a graphics card upgrade for the dimension 300. But can i still plug in a new one anyway?

I am getting 454MB of ram like this.

1. Already have 256MB of ram
2. Am adding to sticks of 64MB ram to it.

256+64+64=384MB of ram sorry.

[18] Aprime15: Yeah, I don't know what my sound card is because it's uber old.
[18] Aprime15: Only know it's a Creative.
[18] CDEMBRING: yeah, and I'm also a n00b for not knowing what my integrated, unlabeled sound card is
[18] Aprime15: The case? What's wrong with the case? Did it make your mom grow tentacles or something?
[18] CDEMBRING: LOL
[18] Aprime15: And omg yes im a nubb pwn me @ teh renegay im ze ze zeeeeeeee noob
[18] Aprime15: oggmmm
[18] CDEMBRING: he isn't even aware that you only made a typing error when saying 1024mb
[18] CDEMBRING: and he thinks that when someone doesn't know what their sound card is, they are automatically dumb, can't build computers, suck at life, and have crappy systems
[18] Aprime15: Yeah, wasn't sure if I was going to say 1024mb or 1GB.
[18] CDEMBRING: lol

Oh, almost forgot...

I love your logic.

AND...

n00bstories.com

What is a n00b (not noob)? The definition we're using on this site is a player who may or may not be new to a game, but insists on doing brainless things, especially things that hinder the team. Those who are defined by this site as "n00bs" will also refuse to listen to words of wisdom or, even worse, berate those who try to help.

I suck cock and love it... absolutely love it. And I just got banned for being too immature to be allowed to post here.

Definantly you need a new graphics card and more RAM, RAM for the loading times, you want at least 512.

Graphics card, get a nice ATI, mine works really well on renegade.

If you want just to play renegade, go for a 9600 or 9800 pro.

Then you can use the ' enable curved surfaces' in the renegade configuration.

If we want to get painfully technical;
1000 MB = 1 GB
1024 MB = 1 GiB
Which is why "80 GB" hard drives end up being something like 74 gigs, in reality.

This explains it:
http://tulsa.ou.edu/voice/othertips.htm
Quote:

Generally speaking, most people know that a kilobyte is 1,000 bytes, a megabyte is 1,000 kilobytes (or 1 million bytes) and a gigabyte is 1,000 megabytes (or a billion bytes). But of course that is an oversimplified, rounded version of reality.

A kilobyte is really 1,024 bytes and a megabyte is really 1,024 kilobytes so you can see that:

a megabyte is 1024 bytes x 1024 or 1,048,576 bytes (not an even million)

and

a gigabyte is 1,048,576 x 1024 or 1,073,741,824 bytes (not an even billion).

The shorthand of using 1,000 instead of 1,024 simplifies the math and just makes it easier to write, read and say. Once in a while you may be required to know the exact number for programming purposes, but most of us mere mortals just need the shorthand version.

Yes, my 80GB only has 74GB usable...

1GB=1024MB not 1000.

I always wish I knew how to use FAT32 on Windows XP... Fat32 is better for gaming, and that's what my system is for.

You're still stupid... When I'm in the Windows XP Professional installer it doesn't say 80GB, it says less.

Icedog, you have to reformat your hard drive if you want to use FAT32. You can convert it into NTFS at a later date, but you can't convert back.

It's only 74GB because the other 6 or so GB is used for the FAT. The bigger the HD the more it uses.

Note to deadfive: The Hard Drive IS the hardware. The software is what goes on it. The motherboard is also hardware.

Install Win98 then upgrade to XP. It will leave the FAT32 file system in tact.

I'd just stay with NTFS though. Its more secure, and its a lot less likely to crash.

I'm pretty sure there is a 32GB cap on XP for FAT32 drives.. If you partition the drive to lower sizes than that, it'll give you the option of using FAT32, but if you format an 80GB drive as a single partition, you're stuck with NTFS
