I used to play on WOL ever since C&C came out. But when it came to Renegade, I had problems etc... So I switched to Gamespy. I thought it was great. They have some ads, but the number of ads and other gayness is pretty much gone now.
Its worth using. I want to know why people think it sucks.

That name is 155% as long as normal WOL names... and causes stretching on the stats listings, which is rather irritating. Sometimes players do not even have visible stats at all from their names.

Ummm... I don't know what you are talking about. The stat stretching thing happened on the demo, but renegade was patched since v1.019. That stuff doesn't happen anymore.
And people can't have absurdly long screwed up names. There is a limit.

GSA has a 20 character limit. It's RenIP that allows the insane names.
I never liked GSA much, but the other day I downloaded it when WOL went down. GSA 2.0 is MUCH better than before. And there is only 1 ad(if non-subscribed) before you get to the game listings. It also lets you see the game stats on the side now, with the players, their scores, and their pings. Along with all the game rules, if they're running BR, ect, below that.
Most servers run WOLSPY now anyway, it is built into the new BrenBot after all. So it's all preference now, there really isn't much difference anymore.
