I wanted to upgrade my graphics card to the next level of gaming experience, and I was thinking of getting Geforce 6800 Ultra, but recently I've seen some reviews and benchmarks of comparisons including both ATI Radeon X800XT and Geforce6800 Ultra, and they both seem to be a little different in different aspects and to get to my point, give me your ideas about both graphics cards, and one more thing, which of the graphics card would performe better in C&C RENEGADE!
Thank You For Your Comments!

The Nvidia geforce 6800 Ultra , go with that. If you want to play games , Nvidia will always be better than ATI since Nvidia is made with game proformance in mind.
You won't see a huge difference between the two though. It all boils down to what you want , ATI or Nvidia.

It's true NVIDIA is just a brand thinking on games, though CAD companies do use ATI for some reason. I've always had ATI, not because I'm fanatic to it but because it's the best. I remember in games that needed a good card like Planetside and all people with NVIDIA had less than 5 FPS in the huge battles, while I had 60-80 at least. Anyway even though that was a couple years ago, since lately I haven't been much into games but Americas Army now and then. I still think you should go with ATI, afterall is the company who develops the most tech when it comes to graphic cards market.

I have a
P4 3.0 GHRTZ 800 MHRTZ FSB, 1.0 GIG Dual Channel DDR400, 120 gigs WD HD, and now if I add x800xt to this system, do you think that I will have a steady FPS of 80 in Renegade with the 1028 resolution and lets say if the game is a 50 player server....
you think that x800xt could handle that?

my upgrading is not only for renegade, and ofcourse its for unreal tournament 2004, Halflife2 deathmatch, CS sourse, farcry, doom3, need for speed underground 2, IGI 2 (Covert Strike), and many more games that I have but I dont remeber.
and about the cpu thing, what do you mean that renegade is based on cpu, like as I said I have a P4 3.0Gigahertz. Do you mean this is not enough, and I currently have ati all in wonder 9800 pro 128 meg. and I get 60s fps on 3rd lowest graphics....
so if i buy the ultra or the x800xt, It wont make a difference???
YOUR SCARING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go for ATI, especially if you will be playing Half-Life 2 and CS:S. I have an ATI 9800 PRO 256 MB and I get over 100 FPS easy with resolution and detail maxed in Renagade.

Well, ATI is usually better in Direct X games, (Ex, Half-Life 2 and Renegade), but Nvidia cards are usually better for open GL games (Ex, Doom 3). All and all, they're pretty equal though.

I don't think blowing your money on the top video card is wise. You will barely need that munch and if you wait even 6 months when new shit comes out it'll be much cheaper.

nastym4n | [2] it may well be worth waiting a little while the x850 and 900s will be appearing soon, not to mention SLi.
|
SLI is already availible. Although I belive that it's only availible for nVidia though.
And the x850 is already out, I'm not sure about the 900's though.
w00t?

ok guyz, I've made up my mind, and thanks a million for your opinions, you really helped me towards getting a new card, and I will wait and see until new cards will come out and hopefully like homey said, new shit will come out and the old cards would be cheaper.
Thanks again guyz, and you were there again when I needed you.

@rm5248
The X850 & XT is out. Not the X900s though.
Not worth getting them yet though. They cost like $500.

half3lif3 | I will wait and see until new cards will come out
|
always a good choice but this is only limited by your budget.
I never bought a single top of range GFX card til my x800,
and i only bought that because i had some spare ca$h -
i was actually planning on getting a 9800 pro.
hope you get something nice,
and if you can be really patient wait for the x900 -
they make the x800s look like voodoo3 gfx cards.

Exdeath you need to backup what you are saying
I guess those HL2 benchmarks are just phony ehh?
ANyway, the best card is:
X800 PRO VIVO, bios swap to X800 XT PE,
you can get the pro vivo for 385.00, the XT bios can be flashed on it and it becomes an XT PE card.
THey are manufactured as the same card, ati just puts a crippled bios on the x800 pro vivo
