Hi,
I currently have 3 active Computers running in my house:
-Downstairs PC
-Upstairs PC (main PC)
-Laptop

At the moment All 3 are fully networked via a wired LAN.
I now want to move to the next step & get my Upstairs PC (main) wirelessly networked to my Laptop via Bluetooth.
The reason for this is that I have 2 bluetooth enabled phone's & a camera aswell, so it would make life alot easier sharing all these resources.(rather than setting up a Wireless LAN ethernet network)

Okay, now.
I have recently won 2x bluetooth adapters from ebay, both of which are different makes & have different software, but both have 100m range.
I received the final adapter today & tried connecting them.
The pairing was successful, but, thats about it!
I am wanting to try and get Internet Connection Sharing & file sharing working (as it would do as I did on the Wired LAN).

If anybody knows any links to direct tutorials or guides then I would much be grateful.
I have googled around, but I don't think I am looking in the correct places.

Thanks in advance.

Andy.

Wireless networking is difficult. I only have experience with 802.11b/g wireless networks. They only way I have gotten them to work was to download a service pack from Microsoft that enabled XP to reconize wireless cards.

You would need an pass-through NDIS driver.
Other than that there's no way to use bluetooth for networking as far as I know.

Get WLAN instead, it's much easier to set that up compared to pass-through stuff. It was a real bitch to get that working over USB. You could also get cellphones with WLAN.

No, my point is it doesn't. The range is 10m, which could explain why it doesn't go through walls.

The best way to do a network is through a hardwired network. the second best is superG using decent equipment. This means that if you want a fast and good working network, throw away your netgear equipment, toss that belkin equipment, toss that motorola equipment and toss your old d-link equipment. We have tried them all, and the one that worked the way we wanted was the linksys gear. 450 feet away from my main router, it took 42 seconds to download an 18.7 mb file. that's 445.23809 kb per second.

yes we are using a single range expander, but thats 220 feet away from the transmitting router, which broadcast strength is 5.5db, which is over the standard 2.2db.

networking is easy, if you follow the directions from the manufacturer. Yes you know how to plug it in, but sometimes you have to load software first, etc etc. Follow the directions, make sure the router is plugged into a surge protector, since they seem to burn up real easy. (I run 5 wireless routers on multiple channels, 2 switches, 3 print servers, cable modem, phone-adapter (phones run through cable connections) etc etc and have no problems. My main computer is run directly off the first switch before any routers tho.

Good luck. with the wireless not working in the next room, depends on the materials used to build your house. stairwells have metal to make it stronger, corners have metal in them to make a nice seam. some older houses (plaster walls) have up to 1.5" of plaster and wire mesh, thus, to the router looks like a solid metal wall. And alot of the new houses use steel 2x4 inside the walls, causing more problems then the fixed.

Good luck
