Linux can be pronounced almost any way you like. There's no "right" way to pronounce it.

Before any more of you decide to wipe your hard drives and whine because you didn't like it, stop and think. You are installing an entire operating system. Are you sure you're going to like it. Believe me, it really sucks when you download burn, and install several CDs of a distro or another OS (like *BSD) that's too advanced, unstable, etc. Try a Live CD BEFORE you try to install Linux on your hard drive! Take a look at this list of live CD distros. You should be able to pick out at least one.

Also, just saying "linux" isn't going help people help you. There are hundreds or thousands of distros out there., each one is a different, more or less. Are you using Red Hat/Fedora? Mandrake? SUSE? Debian? Knoppix? Gentoo? Not only that but there are several GUIs available for Linux: KDE, Gnome, Fluxbox, WindowMaker, XFCE, etc.

There are alot of choices out there. You really need to take your time and make sure it's what you want or need. Check supported hardware, look at screenshots, ask for advice, and so on. I'd reccommend Mandrake for newbies, but you can still browse this list of distributions
