you want to make a disc that can be played in a DVD player right? I've been doing a little research in how to make Video CDs. The principles are the same, the only difference is the capacity of the media.
You probably want to look at http://www.doom9.org/. Note: at this point I need to emphasize that this information be used for legitimate backup of media that you own only.
There was a time when people were impressed that I have the firepower to decimate a planet in under 10 minutes.
