Microsoft may charge extra for security softwareQuote: | Microsoft Corp. disclosed plans Thursday to offer frustrated users of its Windows software new tools within 30 days to remove spyware programs secretly running on computers. But it might cost extra in coming months.....
Microsoft's tool, expected to be available within 30 days, initially will be free but the company isn't ruling out charging for future versions. "We're going to be working through the issue of pricing and licensing," Nash said. "We'll come up with a plan and roll that out."

Read between the lines: Micro$oft will charge whatever they think they can get away with if consumers grovel at Ballmer's feet.

Microsoft sucks.
Yeah, we all knew that.
"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)
"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

Aircraftkiller | Without Microsoft you'd still be using the Apple operating system if even that. I'd rather not use a Macintosh, thanks.
|
What's wrong with MacOS X? It's superior to Windows XP in almost every aspect.
Take your own advice; don't read it if you don't care.

Panther | My main complaint is the difficulty I encountered doing simple tasks such as uploading a file to my webserver, or even creating an html document.

The only reason webpages get displayed improperly on other OS's is because of Internet Exploder. About 80% - 90% of websites are optimized to look well in Internet Exploder, they don't care about Safari, Mozilla, Konquerer. Netscape etc. I use SUSE Linux often and it was not hard to learn. HTML Displays just fine in Mozilla Firefox for me almost all the time, now and then there's a problem, one time this guy wanted me to look at his nav bar that he made with flash, and so I did and . . .
Me: "WTF is with the blue background"
Him: "What blue background, there's no blue background"
Me: "Yeah, there is, let me send you a screen shot"
Him: "Ok. . . WTF You edited the image you f*ing retard, you F*cking liar"
Me: "No I didn't, what internet browser are you using?"
Him: "What's an internet browser?"
Me: "Internet Exploder, Mozilla, Netscape etc . . .
Him: "Internet Explorer"
Me: "Well, that's the problem, you are using internet explorer, try another browser. Go to http://www.mozilla.org and download FireBird"
Him: "WTF, you idiot, you trying to make me download a virus, you f*cking retard, all my friends say it looks just fine"
Me: "All your friends use Internet Exploder"
Him: "So? It looks fine for all of them, that means your lying"
And that's when I blocked the idiot. . . . There shouldn't be a problem with creating HTML pages either, unless your wanting something like front page, or dreamweaver where you don't have to code it yourself. Besides Linux and Mac's are much much more secure compared to Windows. Linux is used most of the time for webserver due to It's reliability, security, almost never needs rebooted, (I have only had to reboot my server once in the past 6 months)

icedog90 | Maintosh can't do shit compared to PC in the game world.
|
May be true in playing games, but if you jump to the music industry...A mac is far superior with it's production levels.
and mac isnt far behind in the gaming/movie industry either.

I design using Mozilla, and sometimes IE fails to work properly with these designs. But with a macintosh webdesign becomes a chore.
|
Safari displays pages according to standard. Just work on your coding.
Quote: | Then there's the issue of Macs costing far too much. Pay almost twice as much for an inferior product...

No, you can't really compare system's processor speed, etc. as they're on completely seperate architectures.
Also, I can play HL2 on my G5 using VPC with a decent framerate. Once the new version comes out supporting direct hardware access to the video card I should be able to play it with about the speed of a 2.0P4.
