I just started Renegade Multiplay and came here for tips/tactics on how to play better. I have read all the posts here and in nOOb site, and at Westwood. Can you point me to such info?

Try the other forum, called tactics and stratergies. Otherwise play on large servers to learn how people do things. Join in with a certain clans activities to see how they play, you'll soon pict things up. LArger servers tend to be in gamespy mode.

Judging by experience smaller games offer more in terms of strategy.

The first thing that I did was play a bit of the old MP practise. Now, I know its not the smartest AI in the world, but what it does it so get you into the units, structures and aspects of attacking and defending.
Get to know all the weapons, their damage, their range, the cost, and get to know what vehicle to use in what situation, for both teams. That way, when you go online, you know a little bit about the backstory.
When you first get online, sure, you may get killed and defeated a lot, but you get to learn tactics from people who, honestly, have played a lot more. You get to know the maps gradually, and you get to meet people, join clans, share ideas.
As with anything, its gonna take practise. However:
Practise makes Perfect
Hope this helps!

Thanks for the ideas. I DID read the other forum and the tips by Majiin before my original post. I have played over 50 games and have learned by experience, but I still feel (and probably act) like a beginner. Forums for other games I have played were full of advice. Maybe this info was on the BB that was vacated.

How does one "Join in with a clan"? What is "Gamespy mode".
