Heh, I get this a lot. It's a bug, though I don't know specifically what causes it. (Problem with Renegade's netcode?) It's easily solvable. Just get out of the vehicle and jump back in again. Note though that it may take more than one try to fix it (sometimes waiting a few seconds can help)
