Hey, we agree on a point. Strange that it is that point. Just for that, I start to appreciate you.

Either way, you still like them when they come together. Very Happy

I find it funny that you have to go there, how old are you? 13? I also find it funny you say my religion has killed people since I don't have a religion. Also to let you know if you go to a Catholic School, it does not mean you can't revoke your religion and go to another one (or believe in your own ideas). I would also like to point out that they are unable to prove if the stories in the bible were true or not. Now I'm sure that people out there have the same ideas as me and they have probably killed other people, I can not control that and I also do not believe in killing others unless defending for my life (so there is no way they think the same as me). I would just like to finish this by letting you know that the Catholics have sent out children to fight in a war because they felt the children were pure and protected by 'GOD'........Well, they all died.

Dude, you're a fucking idiot. I'm sorry, but there are few people that I TRULY think are idiots, and you are one of them. Congratulations. Let me show you how I think this:

I'm 18, but I figured I'd piss you off and have fun doing it.

I never said your religion killed people...moron.

I know you can revoke your religion, dumbass. I never said you couldn't.

They are able to prove it and have.

That's nice, people are idiots like you, it's not uncommon that they'd think the same.

Good for you. At least you have some resemblence of intelligence.

Why do you keep referencing Catholics? I AM NOT A CATHOLIC. I DISAGREE WITH A LOT OF CATHOLIC TEACHINGS.

So has every other organized Religion. So have Athiests. Of course, they don't do it because they feel they are protected by God. They do it as they feel they will be protected because they are on the "right" side.

I mean, how many people would willing go to fight when they know the chances of them dying are 100%?

Personally, I'm an athiest, but I really do want more people to believe in something-- I sure wish I could.

Why tell people that there is no God? Why attack a religion? If they do worship their gods, then they obviously want or need to, so these silly arguments will get you nowhere. Many people use religion as their hope, their reason for life. Why would you try and take that away? When it comes right down to it, religious arguments just end up being "you're wrong!" "no, you are!" contests.

Everyone claims to be right...everyone claims to have the one and only truth, the complete picture, the coveted knowledge that no one else has...

Won't it be interesting, in the end, to find out what's REALLY going on? I mean, what would everyone do if they found out that no one had the right idea? And what if everyone, and I mean everyone, had a small piece of the truth- like a piece of a puzzle- and the real truth will never be known until all the pieces come together? What if we're ALL right?

There have been millions of religions- if not billions- since humanity came into existence. Who's to say that any one religion is any more "right" than any other? Looking at history, it is possible, even probable, that in several thousand years today's primary religions will be but minor cults practicing somewhere in the background.

Tolerance is key. Billions of humans inhabit this planet, and no two share the exact same set of beliefs. There is always a possibility, however small, that someone else may be the one who knows "the way" and not you. Follow the teachings of your religion, but don't allow yourself to fall into the trap of hating others for their beliefs.

You'll never know for sure until you die, after all.

"Arms discourage and keep the invader and plunderer in awe, and preserve order in the world as well as property. Horrid mischief would ensue were (the law-abiding) deprived of the use of them." - Thomas Paine

Remember, kids: illiteracy is cool. If you took the time to read this, you are clearly a loser who will never get laid. You've been warned.

You are mixing issues.

He says he doesn't have a religion. That means he doesn't. Believing in nothing is not a religion per se, thus he was correct. Agnosticism is not a religion.

Quote:

ag·nos·ti·cism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (g-nst-szm)
n.
1. The doctrine that certainty about first principles or absolute truth is unattainable and that only perceptual phenomena are objects of exact knowledge.
2. The belief that there can be no proof either that God exists or that God does not exist.

Quote:

re·li·gion ( P ) Pronunciation Key (r-ljn)
n.

1. A) Belief in and reverence for a supernatural power or powers regarded as creator and governor of the universe. B) A personal or institutionalized system grounded in such belief and worship.
2. The life or condition of a person in a religious order.
3. A set of beliefs, values, and practices based on the teachings of a spiritual leader.
4. A cause, principle, or activity pursued with zeal or conscientious devotion.

Does not agnosticism fit in with the fourth definition of religion as it is a conscientious devotion to believe that God cannot be proven nor disproven?

Is not his belief in no particular established religion an activity pursued with conscientious devotion?

Careful, you're only half right there. Agnosticism, by definition is ambiguous.

"ag·nos·tic ( P ) Pronunciation Key (g-nstk)
n.

1. One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism.

2. One who is doubtful or noncommittal about something."

I would argue sternly that the latter is more correct than the former in that agnosticism (as an agnostic theist myself) works with three simple words: "I don't know". It is the perfect shade of gray between the black and white. The premise of the "belief" (and I use that very loosely, because the belief is only in the possibility that one does not have a clue and not of the nature of God) is that God may or may not exist, and that is where the shades of grey (like the ideal left-right political spectrum) come in.

Remember, agnosticism is not a religion. It is a profession of ignorance. But it is one that is often open-minded to what might or might not be true. So there is (generally) no conscientious devotion to the belief of "I don't know".

Here is the way I think of it.

Christmas is the only Religious holiday that is also a Federal holiday. So you can think about separation of Church and state on your day off.

Wow, you are a genius! I numerated them for you so you wouldn't have to think so hard as to what I was retorting to. Now that last post I made was aimed directly toward you to prove how big headed you are and to show that you are not as smart as you think. Then you go further to prove how smart you are knowing it was a quote from you when it shows your name. When I made that post I was saying in the previous statements I have created that they are not all directed to you, I just felt that you seemed like the biggest moron to quote (and to get your attention). I suggest that you stop posting here because every time you do you just degrade yourself even more.

I am going to await another post of you noticing that this is directed to you.....on second thought, that could take to long so:

**Note: This post is directed to you (j_ball430).

This fucker likes to take on forum veterans, and he calls me stupid.

I like how he thinks I'M degrading MYSELF. He should really reevalute his situation and realize that he's just digging himself deeper and deeper and deeper into a hole, that he can't get himself out of, because we all know that he has no chance if he can't even fight his way out of a paper bag.

Veterancy does not denote intelligence. One only has to look at this thread to see multiple instances of proof.

You said taking on forum veterans was stupid. The implication is that this is because veterans are somehow better and more likely to be correct. This is far from the case, as the actions of most of the 'veterans' of this board showcase daily.

Veterans have more pull on the general public of the forum. Hence why taking on a veteran is stupid because you pretty much piss off all the wrong people.

to disposableh: All you are doing is giving atheists and agnostics a worse reputation than we already have. Please think about what you are saying before you click the post button...flaming forum vets will get you nowhere, and when arguing over subjects like these you will quickly find that you have bitten off more than you can chew. This isn't a very good way to make a first impression.

Calm down, have a mint, take a shower, get some sleep, and come back when you're willing to act mature. Remember- you are only as intelligent as the people you argue with, and as a newcomer you are waaaay behind the power curve. Don't make the whole forum hate you before your post count gets into the double-digits.
