When I run RenGuard my computer CTDs randomly.
When I don't run RenGuard, Renegade runs fine.
I have installed CP1, but it was doing it before.
Help!

Sounds like your having the same problems as this guy http://www.renegadeforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=12692 except your system looks like it barely makes the minimum requirements and your memory omg, get some memory. Update your Realtek sound driver/codec here >> http://www.realtek.com.tw/products/products.aspx or better still get an audio card.

I'd say the combination of lack of memory and a decent sound card crashes you to desktop.

When it runs, it runs fine. FPS is usually in the 30s, I know it would be higher if I had a better video card. This is renegade we're talking about here, not HL2, my processor double the requirements and the memory is 3x the required amount. I'm sorry I don't have and ubar-1337 system like you do. BTW, my sound works fine.

*edit*
There are never any error messages. It just crashes to the desktop. Sometimes Renguard gives me an error about a corrupted always.dbs, other times not. Though that's only started happening since CP1.

I think everyone gets that crash to desktop every once in a while, even me. I'm playing a game and "The End" I see a desktop Confused game didn't even minimize......nothing, just stopped.

I just restart Renegade & game on Smile

Try stopping any additional programs running in the background of your computer that you don't want running when it boots - Run/msconfig/startup

If you crash more frequently like: 2 or 3 times a week then yea, you might want to uninstall Renegade completely (even delete the folder) Save your SP save game points/extra maps if ya want first and then do a fresh install.

My son plays on a 1600 with 256 mb ram and it runs fine. Only diffference I can see is load up time.

By the way Ripintou not everyone can have a gig of ram some cant afford it.
