Hello.... I have been working on this texture for a few days now, its not quite finished, and I'm trying to make sure it's not mistakeable as concrete - I want it to have a distinctly metallic appearance. Tell me what you think, and if you find it to be concrete-like, let me know what suggestions you have for improving it. Keep in mind that this texture is incomplete, and that there is much detail to be added, but that the metal texture itself is basically finished.

Check the pinned tutorials thread above. There I recently post a page of tutorails a friend of mine has put together in one place. There are tutorails from modeling to unwrapping to texturing.

heh, I have to say... it looks like toy metal, aka Plastic made to look like metal. I don't mean this a an insult, but the first impression I got when I looked at it was that it belonged to a toy building of some sort.

His main question was what could be done to improve it.

When I think of metal, I think of a shiny, luminous, or even reflective surface. What you have is rather dull in texture; looking up images on google might be valuable to you.

I knew that. However, this was a rare occasion when my first impression caused me to laugh. I offered noting in the form of help simply because I wouldn't know how to fix it.

Though upon thinking about it, I feel that one solution to assist (though not solve) the problem would to have the designs not appear pasted on. This is what caused my initial reaction. In many cases, the toy objects have stickers to replicate any features on the model. Thats exactly what they look like; stickers. Fix up those textures, and the metal finish will show through better.

Pretty sure they got a picture and used the smudge tool. The best way to get reflective is to use alot of light sources so it will look like it's reflecting multiple objects.

Hmmm... Interesting, but doesn't really look like metal. When was the last time that you saw anything like that, other than on ghetto cruisers with spinning rims? And besides, that's not metal, its plasic.
