It takes teamwork to plant, and teamwork to defend. Furthermore, you need like three of them to really do anything remarkable.

normally 1 team of snipers owns the tunnel.. and after that its normally impossible to disarm once planted

also it doesnt do much damage alone but 400 ish points a plant and the newbs plant over and over again with no intention of destroying the building only to pointwhore.. it ruins the game

So does running through that "tunnel" with your n00b cannon "snipers" who shoot at tanks to get absurd points, and kill any basic soldiers that enter it... How is that any better than the people actually using a weapon for what it was designed for? If I can get points legitimately, without having to shoot tanks with a weapon that shouldn't be damaging them OR getting 20 points a shot off them, I'll do it.

I think that some of these should be fixed, but others should remain. Being able to drive your vehicle in a building hardly ever shows abuse and is fairly hard to do in a higher level ping server. Besides, it seems reasonable as the dimensions fit. Base to Base on field should be fixed as the missle is clearly going through a wall but the tunnel beacon should not be fixed (if it can). You must draw a fair line.

I agree 100% with gam3rj, at this rate, you guys are going to mess up the game I came to love. Its not even up to you guys to make patches for this game, and when you guys do it, you dont even do a good job, im sorry but its true. Not to mention that the whole renegade community has gone up into flames.

And the whole being able to drive a vehicle into a building, it can only be done with one vehicle, and it has no advantage to it, what so ever, its a fun bug that shouldnt be touched. The B2B on maps were you can see the building your fireing on should not be fixes, the ones were you can not see the building should.

Tunnel beacons fix? wtf is that, your telling me, IN REAL LIFE, if you put a beacon to call for a missle to hit, on a wall next to a builing, it wont hurt if not destroy that building? My god, you guys have lost your minds with the power to change things. Not to mention rengaurd doesnt even work 100% and when i try to give tips on how to fix it, i get flamed, like I am almost positive i will get flammed for this post.

OMG! IT'S called uB3r rules to make the game FAIR! I doubt the game was meant for vehicles to boundary hop, or why would they have put the blockers there with the road blockers. Hhhmmmm????

Omg this whole patch thing is driving me insane!

This is like complaining aobut Gorrilla Warfare Tactics in a war that was based apon standing in a line and shooting one another (Yes, i got that from "The Patriot")

You're an idiot suntar. You know nothing about balance, fair play, intelligence, honor, or knowing how to play a C&C game.

Yes, this is C&C. Not reality. Don't use real life as a justification for you wanting to leave a problematic, broken game the way it is.

If intelligence and honour come in to it, there should be only 2 or 3 n00b cannon snipers available at one time, and standard soldiers should get an extra single point of armour so that they can sustain a n00b cannon bullet.

you simply can't trust people not to do the shit they do now, such as running people over in apcs instead of finish them off, and hide under the "i'm not breaking any rules" clause.

They aren't breaking rules by killing people with an APC unless the server rules are written so that "not ending the game when you've obviously defeated the enemy" is part of the rules.

yes, but there's no rule saying "don't overuse ramjet rifles" either and people still do it....I agree, you require the rules because people lack the discipline necessary to abide by fair play in respect to others.

I would like things changed to be like C&C, so they will be fair. Renegade is not fair. If you believe it is, I call you an idiot because you lack the mental ability to figure out the large imbalance problems in the game.

Hum-vees were never meant to enter structures. I should know - I was part of the development team. If we wanted you to enter structures, why were the vehicle blocking polygons added on flying levels? Dumbass.

Calm down ACK. Jesus.

I think what he's trying to say, and I agree with him to some point, some things shouldn't be changed. Renegade has been out for almost 3 years now and it's really going to screw with some people if you change significant things now. For example, getting on buildings have become tactics, and if the other team cannot respond to these tactics, that is their loss of skill or knowledge to do so. I think it would be very wrong to take these type of things out.

whast your problem dude, you have anger issues.

as a short stocky soon to be bald man would say, SIMMA DOWN!

If there were "LARGE imbalance issues" in the game, then why is it that the same team never always wins on a map? Ever think there could be somthing to do with the players? Shocked

Slash0x

Renegade was designed the way it was because that is how they made it. Play the game and get over it... Razz

I have no anger issues. Perhaps instead of telling me to "simmer down," you can try focusing on why it is that you cannot grasp simple balance between unit dynamics.

You're still an idiot. I'll quote from here: http://renegade.the-pitts.net/mapstats.cfm

C&C Field GDI 1543
C&C Field Nod 1277

GDI wins quite a bit more than Nod does on Field.

C&C Hourglass GDI 1593
C&C Hourglass Nod 1510

GDI wins about 80 more games than Nod does on Hourglass.

What's my point here? Level design is a HUGE part in what team wins a match. If you create a level that favors one team's strength (whatever that's meant to be, the teams are nearly equal because of a shitty balance system that's totally untrue to C&C) then that team is likely to win. If I create a level where Nod is set in a canyon with one way in and out and GDI is set inside of an open field with a lot of open space between the bases, guess what, Nod will win. Why? Stealth Tanks are not hard to use in those kinds of circumstances, making them newberism units that end the game in a few minutes.

Level design has EVERYTHING to do with who wins and loses.

I don't think that is significant enough, while c&c_field shows good statistics, Hourglass doesn't, that's actually fairly close Now, if you were to start trying to balance the game, there's a good chance you'll emit too much torward one particular side and contradict your initial purpose. In the almost 3 years of playing, I can guess that I've won as Nod more than GDI in Field anyway, and this is public servers I am regarding as well. When I was participating in clan matches on this map, I usually chose Nod.

What I also want to express concern for is if you modify the game in these large aspects, it will cause the community to split. You'll have the obvious, those who patch their maps, and those who don't because they are content with what they have already and they are not forced to download them. If it were a required patch download prior to getting on WOL, I suppose this would solve that problem (ie. official patch to some degree).

How will it cause a split? Everyone will have the normal maps; only the people who have the modified ones will be playing with each other. Everyone can still play with the normal maps.

Unless the map names are changed, the it will replace the current maps, which will make users who don't download the patches have the wrong one. If it has a different map name, I could care less.
