The Duelfer report is great news for America. It further justifies why we are in Iraq. It shows further scrutiny into the Oil for Food (Palaces) program. France, Germany, and Russia (and I believe other countries too) were being bribed by Saddam to keep the UN off his back. His goal was to get the sanctions against him lifted so that he could resume his WMD programs.

But what still confuses me to this day... if Saddam well and truly had not a single WMD... why wouldn't he just let the inspectors come in and see that it's true? Why did he continue to lead them on a wild goose chase and provoke war against him?

I'm the bawss.

Well, inspectors were in-country several days before we started our bombing runs, and they were getting access to wherever they wanted to go...

I don't think it was exactly the best time to invade...

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the President, or that we are to stand by the President, right or wrong, is not only unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American public." -- Theodore Roosevelt (1918)

"The danger to political dissent is acute where the Government attempts to act under so vague a concept as the power to protect "domestic security." Given the difficulty of defining the domestic security interest, the danger of abuse in acting to protect that interest becomes apparent. --U.S. Supreme Court decision (407 U.S. 297 (1972)

That was like begging a sniper not to kill you when you're his mark and bullet is already leaving the front of the barrel.

There was a time when people were impressed that I have the firepower to decimate a planet in under 10 minutes.
