unlike many, i have a start menu, and i use it... no sense in cluttering up a nice and tidy desktop with 500 shortcuts to things easly found with one extra click...

It's also annoying to minimize everything (even with win-key d it's annoying) to get to the desktop to open stuff.
Using startmenu and quicklaunch works very well there.
