this guy must be one of those OMG! RenGuard has a Trojan Virus in it! people. We all know RenGuard works fine. It's just you and your twisted little mind. I run Windows XP and I never had a problem since installing SP2.
No. Seriously. No.

We've had hunderts of beta tests for the version 1.03. No problems at all. Whatever you are having, it is not RenGuard.
Keep trolling..

accually, rengaurd does cause crashing issues. Causes windows lock ups on my 2.8 prescott, 2.6p4, my friends 2500+ xp, and a 3200+ 64 bit.
SO yeah, there are a bunch of errors with rengaurd that need fixing.

And why didn't you report it when 1.03 was in beta?
I doubt that it causes windows lockups - anyways need more details how renguard is supposed to lock up your system.

so your accusing me of cheating? ok, let me put it this way. I just started playing renegade last week again, after the break i took in the game. I play for a week, no errors, but im playing with out rengaurd, then i go into a server that requires it, so i go, ok, anticheat, ill get it, after playing for about 15-20 minutes, windows locks up. Cant move in the game, cant close the game, cant do anythingm forced to turn off the computer manually. This happens each time i play, on those systems. What do they all have in common? Rengaurd.
Now, if your going to release a anti-cheat program that over 3/4 of the renegade servers will use, you need to learn to accept that your product is not perfect.
just my two cents, but this guy came with a problem, and all you guys did was make fun of him.
you cant show logs if it locks up the system, and you have to turn off your computer, if there is a .txt in a folder some were that displays the whole log of rengaurd events, please post were that would be.
Thanks! [/edit]

We tested 1.03 on over 120 systems before its release. We had absolutely zero reports of lockups. We are more than willing to admit that there's plenty of work to do and improvements that can be made, and we know there are problems with some users on Win2k. However, it's highly unlikely that ALL your friends have the exact same problem that no one else is having.
Complete lockups of mouse and keyboard and generally matters of overheating. Common problem in Athlon processors with inadequate cooling. I'd look elsewhere for the solution to your problem. I got hard lockups due to overheating while I played Renegade long before RenGuard ever came out.
I'm the bawss.

Erm. This very rarely happens but i have had this a few times also. But its not RenGuard causing it.
Its some bug in windows xp or the gfx drivers that cause the 3D device to crash or whatever.
No idea what it exactly caused by but thats the most logic explanation..
And i know for sure its not RenGuard because i had these crashes a dozen times in total even before RenGuard was publically released.

Make sure it's not a firewall issue by adding the proper files to the allowed-group.
Craploads of crashes nowadays are caused by "pop-under" firewall messages. Most firewalls out there are unable to minimize the game when they ask the "Should this program be allowed to access the Internet" question, so the message pops in the background, and often for some reason it's also not possible to alt-tab, Windows key, alt-enter etc. back to Windows. So unless you know the keyboard combinations to answer to the firewall question, you'll have to reset.
I've had this issue with both ZoneAlarm and McAfee firewall, and several games. (Practically all games who have their own in-game full-screen game lobby.
There's a hole in the sky through which things can fly.

This is a very good point. Renegade doesn't like to alt-tab. In fact I can alt-tab it several times and definitely get a crash or exit to desktop out of it. RenGuard replaces game.exe, so if you have any firewall software that alerts you when an exe is replaced (zone alarm, tiny firewall, etc), it will definitely pop up/under to notify of game.exe being replaced, at which point Renegade is very prone to lock up or exit to desktop.
Theres not much we can do about this, since RenGuard must replace game.exe, and theres nothing we can do about Renegades instability when it loses focus. My only suggestions are:
1. If you get a solid lockup, it may be your firewall software stealing "focus" (popunder)...basically there is an alert box that popped up, but its "under" Renegade. Try hitting alt-tab, or your windows key, or if a keyboard with no windows key, ctrl-escape.
2. Try running renegade temporarily in windowed mode, so that your firewall alert message can popup and you can tell it to accept the change.
Hope this helps...

Ok!! I get the point.
Crimson, I owe you a gender appoligy.
I an one who is quick to admit a mistake, but never make the same one twice. And yes, you are gracous in the face of unkindness.
My hat is OFF.
I must say that after 18 years of instructing computer science to people, MS has a problem withe xp SP2. There numerous problems I am hearing about.
But I have never had any problems with Xp and renegade that is before SP2.
SP2 might be an answer to the problem or the graphic board, or both.
Oh! by the way Suntar, people react they do not think or read. this is my #3 pet peve.
