For the past 2 months i've had a sound echo coming out of my speackers, i've put up with it but now my micropone has failed....I need my microphone to record something...i've tried to reinstall my sound driver, didn't work. I've tried to reset my settings to default, nothing happened...
any ideas?

Do you have you're mic on Line In or Mic?
The echo was probably RF leakage from the Line Out getting caught up in the Line In or Mic connection. They don't sheild those things properly anymore. I actually have to mute the Mic channel so my TV tuner will not echo.
There was a time when people were impressed that I have the firepower to decimate a planet in under 10 minutes.
