So what is your point?

We gave them millions before the war and millions after the war.

We weren't talking about after the war. We were talking about the support given to Britian during the Battle of Britain, and the United State's lack of actual manpower to try and repel the attacks. This all riles together with Bigjoe's statement:

Quote:

The point I'm trying to prove is that we are the world police. We do not let our friends get picked on. If you pick on our friends next door, we will hop the fence and beat down on you.

In that you did not police Germany out of Britian during the Battle of Britian, and in fact did not "hop the fence and beat down on you" in France and England until you suffered an attack yourself. You obviously did let your friends get picked on (seeing how Britian and France WERE your friends, whether you seem to think so or not) and merely threw them a few tools (among many OTHER countries lending actual manpower and supplies) and expected everyone else to use them.

It's a good thing you finally came to your senses and launched the Normandy invasion when you did. You were a little bit late though, and I guaruntee you that many hundreds of people had to die because of it.[/quote]

The invasion of Normandy was planned by multiple different countries. It was not only the US.

Besides, we were fighting in the pacific and in Africa within weeks after pearl harbor.

...and? I take it you agree with me then, considering you haven't attempted to refute anything of direct virtue to my response to Bigjoe's statement.

You still don't get it. He started the US invlovment, but he did not start the original conflict. I hate to spend too much time on it because it doesn't matter too much. Moving on...

If you would have payed attention more you would have noticed that I said nothing about France or Japan. What you would have noticed is that the whole thing is about the U.S.. Everything in this topic is related to the U.S., not Japan, or Britain or France, or any other third world hell hole.

You said: "John F. Kennedy started the Vietnam conflict in 1962."
When in actuality, you should have said: "John F. Kennedy started the U.S.'s involvment in the Vietnam conflict in 1962."

There is a difference. It doesn't change too much of your point, but it popped out to me as ignorance and blindly trusting your source.

And Aircraftkiller, since I can't prove anything on an emotional standpoint, why don't you just look at the economic costs of war vs. murders...

Murder has killed far more people than war.

You speak as if the United States was as powerful then as it is now. The U.S. didn't become a bona fide world power until after WWII. It wasn't much stronger than Germany at the start of the war, and the American people were afraid of the war coming to American soil. It simply did not have the resources or the will of the American people to go in immediately to help Britain. Hell, it was just comming out of a depression. It was barely prepared for the war at the time of the Battle of Britain.

How did this go from so positive and different to the exact same post as all the others?

Because that's what happens when you try to put a positive spin on a negative thing.

Nodbugger, of course more people die from murder than war. We aren't always at war, and with a population of 280 million, I don't see how it could be any other way...

Don't stray from the subject. I was, and have always been relating my posts in this thread to Bigjoe's very common statement and the ideology behind it.
