I don't know if this will effect RG, BR .net or other Renegade products and such, but it is something I felt you need to know and prepare for.

SP2 looks like it is going to be a bitch. Even Symantec is working hard to get their virus software to play nice with SP2. Microsoft calls it a "Comprehensive security overhaul of Windows XP"

Microsoft

Perhaps the biggest change will be a host of new alerts that offer more detailed information about what programs are trying to contact the computer and give the user more chances to accept or decline.

So get prepaired and plan for the worst.

It is an issue. We will deal with it, when the final service pack is being released.

On some earlier beta versions, RenGuard does not run, but on newer ones, it seems to work. There is a one-time warning messagebox that is displayed on SP2 systems.

We do not support beta operating systems.

The changes in the way Windows polices itself — particularly the newly strengthened firewall — could cause troubles for applications that are used to working with Windows’ old ways.
Some say that’s particularly true of applications that regularly interact online, such as gaming programs or music services.
Security experts say it’s tough to know how many companies may have to change their products to be compatible.
Gartner Research estimates that a mere 3 percent of applications that run on Windows won’t work once SP2 is out.
But Microsoft’s Goffe says corporations running customized applications could have more complex problems, requiring them to specially configure SP2. Many legitimate corporate programs depend on just the type of interactions that would also alarm the security system.

Forget renguard, it can be updated to work with sp2, the problem is if renegade woun't work because no one will update it.

"According to crn.com when they tried upgrading various computers to Windows XP SP2 RC2 3 out of 5 of the machines failed to come back up, and had to have both SP1 and SP2 removed via various hacks supplied by Microsoft."
