I have a friend with a copy of renegade... (Cracked n stuff.. ) And when he tryes to play renegade on the net it says something about " Your version does not match this westwood product or something like that.. Is this becouse he has a copy or is it of some other reason? (i would really like to play with him on the net)

It's because it's an unpatched cracked version. He might be able to patch it but that won't do him any good because he still needs a valid CD key.
