Yes ![[Smile]](smile.gif) getting brighter and more noticable skins for certain units can give u an unfair advantage and therefore be considered cheating. For example, C4Kitty's use of a stealth skin with a blue hue makes the stealth trooper less effective than it is intended to be. This is equivalent of making the unit deal less damage. i know u cant do that, but its the equivalent!
of course, reskinning tanks and such to camouflage or whatever your loins desire is fine. Naked skins... whatever floats your boat. The Stealth trooper is one unit that should remain untouched for the most part. any other unit is already clearly visible, and is not so delicate an issue. Reskinning snipers might be kind of cheap, but deadeye already looks visible and fruity, so maybe not
Sorry for the long post, but as a stealth nuker, please don't reskin your stealths!!

Ive seen a skin where you can put bright lights on tanks and other vehicles to make them easily visible in dark maps like Field and City... It is cheating. The only skin I have is a blue orca cuz it looks so cool. It also makes it harder to see them in the dark maps. ![[Cool]](cool.gif)

Yeah, interesting thought.
Maybe it would be considered cheating if the skins were only available to one or two people in the matches. However if everybody had it, i don't think it would be so bad.
There's another skin for proximity C4 which makes it glow bright green so they're easier to see, maybe this is cheating too?
Then again, same point, if everyone has it, i don't see it as a big deal.

It has to do with intent.
did the original intent of the skin allow it to be visible at a distance?
Or in the dark.
or be less stealthy?
Are maps made dark to simulate something?
what is the intent of the user.
Are you doing it to make up for your lack of skill?
or are you doing it because you have a bad vid/mon combo?
If you cant honestly answer these questions - then maybe Renegade isnt for you - you could always go back an play "Pong" - two simple colors - easy to play...
IMHO - if you change stuff to give you an edge - you are cheating - yourself - the other players - and finally - the game itself.
Why stop at given the stealths BRIGHT GREEN skin - why not edit the ini files to make all your ammo one shot/one kill?
Better yet - why dont you hack into the program and give yourself the "god" mode...
but then - why would you bother to play the game at all...

Put the skin file in your Renegade/Data directory
And I agree, those skins are cheating, especially to yourself, cause you're not good enough to kill them without taking away there advantages.

dosnt matter if U have the Day Glow green Stealth skin, when a stealth trooper stands still or sneaks slowley he is totally invisable. (unless U bump into him).
I use the green stealth skin
the proxy red glow skin
the timed c4 green skin
the blue chem trooper
and oh yeah if I stop in game and stare at hotwire, nonsuit ION sydney, or Sakura its cause of the cool bikini skins.

i got a skin that makes the regular havoc skin look like spiderman. i don't consider it cheating because people tend to pick the other skins for better camo. i also have a c4 skin that puts a smiley face on them. looks funny when you throw it on the back of a sniper's head. and i have a *ahem* "hot"wire skin and a PIC sydney skin. but my favorite skin is the one with Kane's face on the nuke blast. now that's funny...

Well, now I know why I have been shot from a distance as a SBH, with the clock shield up. I am going to walk very slowly from now on when I am a SBH. Don't want to be seen by the cheat skins.

Yah it is kinda cheap if you think about it. If you really wanna play a game to its fullest you dont alter it one bit.....and stealth are meant to be STEALTH.....any fighters know here that our Stealth planes can be undetected by radar.....now if some ----- wearing punk ass downloaded something to his radar to make our stealth appear on the radar screen would that be fair? agreed that its cheating to do so.

Not true. I was just playing a game last night and I was a Havoc and I was on a sniper point and I could see a bunch of NOD's running all around there turret repairing it and stuff....then I looked aroudn a little more and I saw some sorta shimmer standing still I was like obv stealth......so I shot and killed and got accused of cheating....which of course wasnt true cuz thats bull crappy to cheat...specially at a game like this where at any given time a reasonablly logical person could become mvp....but anyway later on in the game I was at the same point and a SBH walked up from behind and popped me laser style in the head killing me.....told me he walked right in front of me and then right behind me.....so the fact with the SBH is its all crap luck if you see one cloaked.
